Yes, I do occasionally shop at Food Lion. They tempted me there this week with a $5 off your $15 P&G purchase.
2 Pantene Hairsprays $7.00
2 Pantene Shampoo/Conditioner $7.00
2 Secret (I only needed to get 1, but I use this stuff!) $5.00
I used two BOGO coupons for the Pantene (minus $7.00) and two $1 coupons on the Secret. Plus it subtracted $5.
So I paid $5 plus tax for all the P&G items! Not too bad!

- Stockpile meat while on sale. Hot dogs aren’t too expensive, but hamburger, chicken, and ribs can be a little more pricey! At our latest cookout, we had smoked chickens. I had spent less than $.80/lb. for the whole chickens, and boy were they delicious. They were all already in our freezer too!
- Don’t be afraid to ask guests to help. Most of your friends and family won’t mind bringing a side dish or dessert. Many people ask us if they can bring something anyway, so we just let them help! This can also save on stress for the host or hostess too!
- It doesn’t have to be fancy to be fun! Very few people are going to be worried about whether your paper napkins match your paper plates. Don’t go overboard on the decorating. Your friends are there to spend time with you, not to see how fancy your yard is.
- Work out of your stockpile and use sale items to supplement. If you go to one store in one week and buy everything for a cook out, you are going to spend a ton. Plan what you are serving according to some items you already have in your stockpile or what is on sale for the week.
- Have a plan for leftovers. Unless you are better at planning than us, there will probably be leftovers. Work them into your menu for the week or plan another small get together. Don’t let those leftovers go to waste!

Last weekend, I traveled to Los Angeles for the Save Up Conference with Savings.com. While there, I learned everything I need to know to teach my Savings Nation classes! The presentation and booklet I have to use for the classes knocked my socks off! I can’t wait to get started!

I mostly sat in classes and meetings, but Saturday night we had a bit of fun! This is me in my $13 Liz Clairborne dress on clearance from JCPenney on the “red carpet”. The other two lovely ladies with me are Sarah from Give Me Neither and Tiffany from Thrifty Tiff! I LOVE standing next to Sarah, because we are both so tall!

Oh, and I have to say a big thank you to Sara and Rebecca from Savings.com who organized everything. I ate the best {gluten-free} food that I have eaten this year! (No joke!)
Learning, having fun with friends, and preparing to teach North Carolina to save even more money? I would call that my success for the week!

Our farmer’s market opens this week, so I can’t wait to start shopping there next weekend!
But for this week, I snagged some essentials at Aldi. {Ok, so cashews aren’t essential, but I have been really wanting them!}
I also picked up a bag of grapefruit not pictured. I spent $17.12 and have all the makings for a veggie tray and baked beans for our cookout tomorrow!

Ok. I feel kind of funny writing this one, but with National Teacher Day coming up soon and the end of another school year rapidly approaching, I thought it would be a timely topic.
