Tiny Prints recently asked me to answer the questions, “Do you have a fun Back To School tradition that makes the start of the year a little more fun?”
Although I don’t have any children of my own, I have inadvertently started a back to school tradition … with my friend’s children. Each year, I always have to work in my classroom over the summer (all teachers do)! I guess that is a tradition, but I have found a way to make it just a little more fun!
Three years ago, I invited my friend to bring her 4 and 5 year old to help! After we move furniture, decorate, and put textbooks on desks, we usually play on the playground and go have lunch. Even though we have done it every year since then, I didn’t really realize I had started a tradition until this year. Midsummer rolled around, and the now 8 year old young man asked his mom, “When do we get to go help Ms. Shelly in her classroom?”
A tradition. This year my friend has a 2 year old too. So I kept the older two overnight and took them to school with me (by myself, yes alone). Who knew that rolling chairs were cars and that closets were houses? Hopefully next year, the 2 year old will be old enough to help!
My little helpers are 7 and 8 this year. I know the day will come that they helping Ms. Shelly won’t be so cool. (Perhaps then I will have children of my own to help!) But for now, I love this back to school tradition!
Do you have any Back to School traditions?
I disclose: Tiny Prints is compensating me for this post, but I would have told you about my tradition anyway! Did you know that Tiny Prints has custom items for Back to School shopping? They offer labels, stationery, and more!
