About
My name is Shelly, and I am the writer behind Coupon Teacher. I am a Christian, wife, teacher, and avid bargain hunter. If you have any questions about something I post, please ask! I am a teacher after all. I am here for your benefit and to continually learn as well!
I am a Christian.
This is the most important thing in life to me. I was once told I should be ashamed to include this in my about me page. I am not ashamed. I will not say much more about this, but it helps you see my perspective on life.
I am a wife.
I met my husband in high school weightlifting class. We were married when I was 20 years old, and we love each other more everyday eleven years later. We have made our home in North Carolina for 10 years. There is nothing like living 5 hours from your family to make you depend on each other.
I am a daughter, aunt, and sister.
I am very close with my family. You will see me post about trips to Parkersburg, WV where I grew up. I have 3 nephews and one niece. I love them all, although I only get to see two of them regularly. I have an older brother, younger brother, and younger sister.
I am a teacher.
I have taught public schools for ten years in the third and fourth grades. I especially like to teach math and science. I teach Bible school and occasionally ladies Bible classes as well. I also love to teach you all I know about couponing and bargain hunting.
I am a learner.
I am not the know-it-all person who dishes out advice. I am still constantly learning in life, and I would love to have you teach me things as well.
I am a bargain hunter.
In high school Spanish class, I won the award for the “best trip to Costa Rica for the money”. I guess my teacher saw my potential all the way back then. I have been couponing for 11 years, but only became a serious couponer about 5 years ago. I love to see clearance racks in stores, and I will argue politely for my $1 coupon, if I know I am correct.
I want to be a mother.
Our time will come. I do not have any kids yet. We actually haven’t tried for any, so don’t think that I cannot. We have been praying and searching for the right time and for our future children. Don’t ask me the dreaded questions, though, I hate it. “So when are you ever going to have kids?”
I am me.
I am tall, shy, and serious. I love to read, blog, shop, and spend time with my family. I have decided I like being me, and that I want to help others in any way I can.

Hi Shelly,
I am so grateful that I found your blog because of all the time and effort you put into making it easier to find great deals, online coupons and bargins – I was super excited when I discovered that you live in Hickory because it makes my grocery shopping even easier now since I have just recently moved here
Keep up the good work!!
Hi there. Just ran across you through #savvyblogging. Don’t you ever be ashamed of loving Jesus.
I started out a couple of years ago frugal blogging but my focus has shifted a bit — I now focus more on daily deals and localism. I believe it’s what God has had me do. I’d love for us to follow us each other on Twitter — maybe we can learn something from one another!
I am new to your site and I wanted to tell you how much your site. I like in North Carolina too (Southwest Charlotte area) so I have really benefited from all your posts, especially Harris Teeter!! I really wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your About Me post above also. It says a lot about your character and I love how you listed you are a Christian before anything else. That is really the most important thing in life, and the fact that you listed it first says a lot about your walk. I am a Christian too, and I taught public school for a couple of years also so I was excited to find out that I have that in common with you. Many blessings on your school year, I hope it’s your best year yet. And thank you for your site!!
I meant to say”I wanted to tell you how much I like I like your site” above.
Hi, I just printed the coupons that you put up and noticed that they have a
Stater Bros logo on them. Do you think walmart will take these coupons.
I live in South Carolina. Thank you again for the time you take to put up
coupons that without you some of us would not know about the specials that
are going on. We will be praying for your health when we gather together
in church Sunday. We are going to believe the Lord for a miracle for you in the
name of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ.
Marcella,
Sorry, I didn’t realize that they stated Stater Bros. They are manufacturer coupons, and can be redeemed anywhere that will accept them. Walmart should accept them, but sometimes cashiers will give you a hard time. Some Pepsi Co. Coupons should come in the Sunday paper too! Thank you for the prayers!
Hi, Shelley!! Just discovered your blog while doing a search for the Charlotte Observer Sunday paper special! I live in the Granite Falls area just outside of Hickory and run a family child care plus have three girls of my own. Two of them are teenagers now so that also comes with having a couple extra teens around most of the time. So as you see I spend a lot on groceries and household supplies! So excited to find someone local who can keep me posted on the great savings here in our area. You have my email now so if there is anything I can ever do for you, please let me know! oh and I did get the observer special… whew! just in time!
Hi new to your websight
Hi Shelly. I have been couponing for many years but extreme couponing for about a 2. I spend a few hours a day on it and look at it like it’s a part time job. I subscribe to literally about a dozen different sites. I had contacted Southern Savers to ask if there were any sites for the NC area. (I live in Charlotte). She suggested Bescentsable. It’s fine, but still didn’t have the particular stores that we have here. I happened upon you recently and noticed your match-ups for HT, Lowes, Food Lion, etc. I read your bio and see you are from NC also! Super excited to find a website I can count on for my store hopping. My friend from Mooresville and I have considered doing a couponing blog/website, but have no idea where to start. She’s the one who initially got me into it after I attended her couponing class. She is still a great source of help and is keyed into even more websites and blogs than I am. Anyway, just thought I say hello!
Welcome Maria! I wouldn’t consider myself extreme, but I am from the Hickory, NC area! I teach full time and run this site part time. Let me know if I can do anything for you!
I love your website, especially Erase your debt section. I need to read more about it.
I discovered your blog looking for some new Activia coupons. I’ll be regular here.
Jess,
Welcome! Let me know if I can help!
I lived in Hickory 10 yrs ago.. Loved it! And I love to learn about other bloggers.
