There are times in everyone’s life when it is just hard to use coupons and save tons of money at the store. Having a well stocked stockpile helps during these times! Even if you don’t have a large stockpile, using a couple of smart shopping techniques can still reduce your grocery bill without coupons.
- When you have a fully stocked stockpile and there aren’t any rock bottom deals, you shouldn’t shop.
- When you start a new job or a new marriage, it is OK to be too busy to bargain shop as long as your budget allows.
- When you are out of money in your budget, you shouldn’t shop.
- When there is a new addition or other big change in your family, you might need to stay away from the stores for a while. Just live off that stockpile and only buy what you need.
- When you are feeling burnt out with coupons, it is ok to take some time off.
- When you move to a new home , you will be too busy to shop. Don’t feel too bad.
- When you are a teacher and start a new school year, it is OK to leave the coupons at home a time or two
. You all know I have already done this…yikes!
Do you ever take a break from shopping or couponing?

I’m not using coupons right now because of the cooking I’m doing. I know there are coupons for healthy foods out there, and I just don’t have the time to hunt them down and use them.
My post this week is focusing on meal planning tips and recipes for back to school. I’ve rounded up some great posts I’ve found in the past few weeks: http://www.frugallocalkitchen.com/blog/school-time-meal-planning-tips-roundup/ There’s also a linky in case anyone wants to add their best tip or recipe.
I have 3 kids 5 and 2 yr. old twins. They got to preschool, in the summer they are with me ALL day EVERY day so couponing is out of the question. I do however try to stock-up on BOGO’s in the summer and other things that are still a good price w/o coupons to help our budget in the summer.
Your post was just what I needed! I have been feeling guilty about not couponing and not using coupons. We have a great stockpile that is dwindling, but isn’t that what it was for? Aughhhh! With back to school, I keep thinking at least I’m feeding the family, it may not be new and exciting, but no one is starving! Thanks for the pick me up!!
