Ouch! That is all I have to say about moving, the end of the school year, and my grocery budget.
Here is to hoping that the summer brings lots of savings!
Keep in mind that I didn’t hardly shop in April, and that we closed on our house the first week of May. Coupons were the last thing on my mind.
Total Shelf Cost: $571.46
Savings: $349.44
Total Spent: $222.02
Percentage Saved: 61.15%
But, I do have good budget news to share! We paid off the large unsecured debt that we have been working on paying off for several years!
Now we are working on paying for some home purchases we have made, since we have moved.
New debt goals (these are long term, as in a few years…):
1. Pay off home purchases. (all are at 0%!)
2. Pay off vehicle loans.
3. Save 3-6 months of living expenses.
4. Pay extra to our home principle.
What are your long term money goals?

We have a 1 year plan to pay off ALL of our debt except our home. Our mantra is “Stay the course”. It’s hard when we want to go out to eat or buy a boat (silly husband)- but staying on course we will get there!!
Of course saving an average of 75% off our grocery bill doesn’t hurt
Way to go Coupon Teacher!

Wow! You are such an inspiration! We close on our “retirement” home June 30th and we’re so excited. We are only in our early 40s, but after 20 years in the Navy, this is where we are staying put ~ “retirement” home!
With all the costs involved, it has certainly been a time of sacrifice, but not only did we do it, we are also buying a new RV so we can head out to all the college footballs games with our entire family…..people don’t get my couponing addiction, but they sure understand my “concrete” rewards, especially when I tell them it was a cash purchase or that we just paid off another vechile!
Our family is trying something from another blog, we are going to have NO EATING OUT DURING JUNE…just to see what we can save & then stock the RV with items!
Keep up the great posts, I love your site!

Great job coupon teacher on paying off that unsecure debt. You are well on your way to a strong financial standing. I still can’t believe that my husband and I paid off our mortgage in about 13 years! No mortgage, no debt! It is a wonderful thing. The money that comes in, tends to be yours to save for retirement, my son’s college and maybe someday a house remodel. (I would love to remodel the kitchen. We priced that out a few years ago and just decided the cost was too much at the time, but maybe someday.)
Your site has helped me to maximize coupon savings tremendously–Thank you! My husband & I moved to NC last summer. I taught for almost 20 years in New Jersey, but am currently unemployed, so budgeting has been extremely important to us. We are using Dave Ramsey’s “Baby Steps” to help guide us on our journey:) We are currently debt free except for the mortgage, just about finished with our 6 month emergency fund, and working on retirement funds. Immediate goals include: saving up to pay cash to have our roof reshingled & paying down the mortgage.
