I have known about this one for a short while now, but I needed some time to iron out the details, check the deal, and get permission to share it.
I will have 2 Charlotte Observers delivered to my house this Sunday morning for $1 each. In case you didn’t know, they cost $2 each at the store or the paper machine. That is a 50% savings, plus money for gas!
Yes, you heard me right. The Charlotte Observer is running a special right now, featuring SUNDAY ONLY delivery!
Update: This deal is expired, but you can check for current ones at Discounted newspaper subscriptions.
SUNDAY ONLY SUBSCRIPTION PROMOTION:
Cost: $1 per paper with a limit of 10 per customer
Length: 13 weeks, 26 weeks, or 52 weeks
Call to subscribe: 800-532-5350
This offer will end September 30th. I went ahead and subscribed for the entire year. My customer service representative reminded me that this is a promotion, and that pricing will return to normal after the subscription period. (So, I wanted to remind you.)
In other words if you pay for 13 weeks, your price will go up after the 13 week period.
I was excited, because this means no more Sunday morning trips to Walgreens or the paper machine (unless there is a deal I just have to have). Plus it means I can spend my RR on items I need!
Thank you to my generous reader Ashley who passed along this deal from The Carolina Clipper! I will let you know how my first week goes on Sunday, and remind you of the promotion!
UPDATED: Someone mentioned this and I thought it worth sharing… I have not received my first papers yet. You may want to wait to order until my report back on Sunday. That being said, it should work for you either way.

This is great! I already get the Observer all week, only because the salesman made me a deal where it was just a buck or so more than Sunday only…plus I got a $15 Bilo gift card. I called the Observer today to see if I could transfer my daily subscription to this new promo, and she said I could. They just took the remaining credit on my account and applied it to the $52 year long, Sunday only you told us about. I had to pay the balance over the phone, but I’m good for $1 Sunday papers for a year now! Thanks so much!!!
I had recently heard someone mention this but I didn’t know the details so I wasn’t sure if it was legitimate. Thanks for sharing this info! I’ll be taking advantage of this offer :)

I filled out the flyer in the paper itself and mailed it in, I have been getting one paper for a couple of weeks now but I still get one at the store as well. I wasnt sure they would let you do two, also I only did it for the 13 weeks and really wish I have done it for the year. I guess I need to call and ask if they will let me extend it. If so I might wait a little longer to start my second subscription so that when one ends I will still get the other for a while at the $1 price. Thanks for the info!
The Raleigh News & Observer offers $1 extra Sundays if you have a regular subscription. So, I get one Sunday at regular delivery price + 3 extras at $1 each. This is not a special promotion, to the best of my knowledge. And I don’t need any of the other 6 days’ papers for the $1 price either. Another bonus is that I can put the extra Sunday subscription on hold for those weeks when there are no inserts (ex. 1st Sunday in July).
Thanks for this post! I will have to check this out!
How far out will they deliver from Charlotte??
I woke up to see my three papers in my driveway this morning and just smiled. I signed up for this promo about a month ago I love not making the trip to the store after church! So glad you and your readers like the deal too.
Just signed up! I ordered Fri, Sat, & Sun delivery a month or so ago for $2.50 per week but I really (like most of us) only want Sunday for the inserts/ads so I called just now and asked if I could transfer/change my subscription and get THREE (3) Sunday papers delivered for 52 weeks and it was very easy! I paid the balance over the phone and I should receive my 3 papers this Sunday! I asked if I could put the subscription on hold as needed and the Customer Service Representative said I could. So when there are no inserts I will just call and put it on hold! So excited!!!
