A Glimpse at My Pantry

June 14, 2011

So, most of you know that I moved recently.  So, be kind.  It isn’t quite organized the way I want it yet.

I am looking forward to being able to organize it some more this summer.  The only part you can’t see is the bottom where I have my cansolidator

And of course, it wouldn’t be my pantry without my shoe organizer!

So what do you think?  Any tips for me?

I love the shoe rack idea! I may have to try that, as we have a tiny apartment and not enough space for the foil/plastic wrap/3 sizes of ziplocks, etc.

My only advice is that I use a lot of those clear plastic shoe-boxes to corral smaller, like items. I have one with the chocolate chips, marshmallows, baggie of brown sugar, etc. in it; I have one with all of the seasoning packets and gravy packets and stuff in it; I have one with all of my different boxes of herbal tea in it; and I have one with individual snack bags (handful of goodies in zippies, easy to grab for lunches and such). I have a few more (and a ton in the bathroom cabinet too) to hold various smaller things. I just like that I can label them with my label maker. I’m a little OCD that way. ;)

Looks pretty good to me!! I cannot seem to stay organized. Heathers idea for shoe box containers for small items is a good one too. You can come organize my pantry anytime!!!

the shoe organizer is a great idea but i have to agree… we have 5 small baskets in our pantry with “like” items in them. one has the little bags of rice and noodles and one has poptarts and oatmeal packets. The other 3 are split between the small packaged items that are mainly for lunches. Like, crackers, chips, fruit snacks, raisins, granola bars, etc… And on the bottom of our pantry, where I refuse to put food right on the ground, I use empty cardboard boxes with the tops cut off to put the baking needs and the extra stuff, like we buy tea bags because we all drink pretty much nothing but blueberry tea, so I have a box with almost all of it being filled with tea bags. We also use a drawer for spices and little packets…

i use the shoe organizer too but i got one that is clear so you can see what is in every pouch. i keep my seasoning/gravy mix packets in them. i use to have them in a clear plastic shoe boxes but i got tired of having to look through it to find the seasoning i needed only to find out i was out. now i can tell easily if i am running low on a particular one. i love that. i also keep things like peanut butter cracker packages, 100 calorie almond packs, microwave popcorn, cereal bars, etc. in the other pouches.

I like to separate my foods by packaging. Cans have a shelf, boxed goods have a shelf and so on.
