Garden Update: My Former Garden…

May 31, 2011

2011-05-26_17-57-03_738

My mother-in-law and father-in-law bought our house this spring, and my former garden is now theirs.  (Although they have promised to share!!)

They expanded a bit, and they are trying something that I never did…

Green Beans!

They have already eaten some peppers, and I can’t wait for a ripe tomato!

How is your garden coming along?

I have gotten TONS of loose lettuce and radishes. Tomatoes are green and growing, peppers (all sorts of varieties), onions, garlic, cucumbers are all growing. The green beans are climbing the fence and the blackbeans are bushing out. I even have a bloom on my squash!

My container garden is coming along nicely! We’ve got 3 buckets of two ‘motoes, a bucket of 4 Endlish cukes, herbs, scallions, chives, and fruit trees (peaches, plums, apples, pears). I, too, can hardly wait for a ripe tomato!! (I was going to share a photo, but couldn’t paste it in the reply box :( )

We are getting ready to enjoy some red skinned taters, but are waiting on everything else. We’ll have tomatoes, cukes, bell peppers, jalapenos, cilantro, onions, canteloupe, chives. My bell peppers are not doing to well…not sure what is up with them.

Sometimes peppers can be picky. My hot peppers always do better than my bell peppers.

The bunnies got our peas, but our lettuce is great! Our herbs are outstanding, and our fig trees are gorgeous. I cannot wait for my figs!

My tomatoes are growing great!! I can’t wait to have ripe tomatoes either! We have been enjoying fresh strawberries but they are almost done now :-( My squash, beans, eggplant, and bell peppers are coming along. We’ve been using our basil and can’t wait for them to get big enough to make fresh pesto. YUM!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my garden! We have already finished: radish, arugula, broccoli, cabbage, collards, spinach, sugar snap peas, sweet peas and lettuce. Now we are enjoying: kale, onions, last bit of broccoli and peas. I just cut the first few squash. Waiting on the tomatioes, green beans, butter beans, black eyed peas, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe, and cucumbers to ripen. Can’t wait!! Did I mention, I love my garden!
