Thrifty Thursday: 10 Cheap or FREE Things to do in the Spring

April 14, 2011

Thrifty Thursday

  1. Go for a walk and admire the pretty trees and flowers.
  2. Eat some strawberries, because they are really cheap right now.  (You can freeze them too.)
  3. Start  your garden.  With our big move, I can’t really start mine yet.
  4. Clean out a closet to find your summer clothes.  Donate what you don’t need or get ready for a yard sale.
  5. Go to the library for books to read on the porch or deck.
  6. Get crafty.
  7. Mow the grass or work in the yard.  Both are great exercise with benefits.
  8. Do a little spring cleaning.  Your life will feel calmer.
  9. Go get ice cream.  Use a coupon or splurge, but everyone feels better after ice cream.  (Unless you are allergic to milk of course.)
  10. Use sidewalk chalk with your kids.  Seriously.  They love it.

What is your favorite thing to do in the spring?

We recently bought a Groupon to a local dairy that sells homemade ice cream. Yum! It will be perfect as the weather warms up

I enjoy this time of year. I love my yard; the flowers are starting to make an appearnace, the grass is green and the days are longer. What I love the most is taking my Shipoo, Jada for extended walks & watching her eat doggie ice cream on the porch. It’s the simple things that bring me joy!

We ALWAYS have sidewalk chalk. Usually the *Easter Bunny* restocks the kids each year. I think I am liking # 9 the best! ;)

I love the Spring, although Fall is my favorite season. I love the daffodils and tulips. It’s so nice to sit out on the deck and throw peanuts to my squirrels, and to watch the birds at the feeder. It hasn’t gotten quite warm enough for that yet here (on Long Island) but I’m looking forward to taking my “Nook” outside and doing some reading in the sunshine!
