Are you itching to get your hands in the soil? Have you already started?
Growing a garden can be very thrifty and healthy too!
I go with the marginally thrifty route of buying small, local plants for most of my planting. Right now is a crazy time at school, and I just don’t have the time to take care of seedlings. I hope you have the time, because growing from seed is the most thrifty way of gardening.
I was able to pick up some lettuce, carrot, and spinach seeds this weekend at Home Depot for BOGO!
I usually plant a couple of each plant, because as I am sure you have noticed, hubby is not a big vegetable fan. We will be doing some corn, cantaloupe, and watermelon for him.
Two roadblocks from last year that I want to tackle this year is terrible weeds taking over the vine plants and squash bugs! I hate those little guys. Just when my squash and zucchini looked great last year, they killed it.
What are you doing in your garden this year? Do you have any weeding or insect prevention ideas for me?
