Welcome to my weekly gathering of Thrifty Thursday! I am definitely coupon savvy, but sometimes, I forget to be thrifty. The dictionary says that thrifty is “thriving by industry and frugality”. I would say if you are reading this blog that you are in some way trying to be thrifty!
Thrifty with Time (and Money)
I have found a new coupon filing method that still saves me bundles of money, but it also saves me massive amounts of time. I am now filing my coupons by insert. I separate the Smart Source, Red Plum, and P&G from each other and file by date. This way I always have all the coupons for the money making deals!
When I am going to the store, I get my box out and clip the coupons I need. It takes about 15 minutes (tops).
I find the insert date I need, and I clip only the coupons I hope to use. Once the coupons are clipped, I file them in a small caddy that I keep in my purse. If I don’t use them, they just stay in the caddy until I do.
When I kept a binder, I spent a ton of time clipping, filing, and weeding out expired coupons. Between blogging and teaching, I was running out of time.
I realize that the insert method of filing is not for everyone, especially since I do miss out on a few impromptu deals. I just wanted to make you think about the few deals vs. the amount of time spent!
