One Lovely Blog

Wow! Another blog award! Thanks a bunch to Smart Sense Mom for giving me the "One Lovely Blog Award!".  This is the second time I have won this award in my 6 months blogging. (The first time I downloaded the blog award picture it had a terrible virus that wiped out my whole computer, so I was a little more careful this time!)

The rules of the "One Lovely Blog Award" are:

Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

I have to say 15 seems like such a huge number to me, because I spend a lot of my time on the big bloggers' sites and doing my posts and matchups.  Plus, I just gave several blogs an award last week! So I will just list a few I have found recently.

Funny Family (aka my mom the self-trained chef)

My mom called this evening and asked if I actually made my crockpot chicken. I told her I did, and she said she did too! What is funny is we used the same recipe, and our meals were totally different. I used cream of mushroom soup and italian seasoning along with the other ingredients. I am also boring, I followed an exact combination of the two recipes.  My mom used cream of celery soup, italian dressing, and added tomatoes. (I know she told me one more thing, but I can't seem to remember.) She is an amazing cook, and she adds anything she wants to a recipe! That is why when I ask for a recipe, she usually just makes it up for me! I would love to post a picture of hers and mine, but all I have is mine.  I know that hubby and I enjoyed ours thoroughly.  Mom said Dad really liked theirs too!  What is great to me is that although we are five hours away, we can still share dinner!

    Harris Teeter News

People that have an advanced copy of the ad say that it does not mention Super Doubles, and it would highly unusual for HT to have a special coupon deal and not mention it in the ad. Although, many sources are still saying that it might be happening! I am going to do a few freebies match-ups in case there are still super doubles, but PLEASE check your email/ad Wednesday morning before shopping!!

    End of the Month

This is a reminder to print any great coupons you want from coupons.com. At the end of the month, some of the best ones go away and new ones come along! To print, just click on my sidebar, and you will be directed to coupons.com!

    Walgreens Coupon

There is a new $5 off $25 coupon for Walgreens tomorrow and Wednesday. This has to be used after all other coupons, so even though it will save you money, it will cost you money too!

I would recommend buying all the RR items to make some money with this, but I think I am going to pass this week!

    Menu Plan Monday

My freezer is fully stocked, and I am trying to use up some things that have been in the stockpile for a while. I feel like we need a little mix-up this week! I would love any suggestions for fall recipes!

    Monday-Cheeseburgers and baked fries
Tuesday-Crockpot Chicken (This looked good, and I have all the ingredients.)
    Wednesday-Dinner with Friends
Thursday-Easy Chicken Parmesan and Spaghetti (I use chicken patties and mozarella.)
Friday-Soft tacos or chicken quesadillas, let's see what we are in the mood for!
Saturday-Camping (if the weather holds out)

Walgreens (Tax and Filler Items are killing me!)

I started with $7 in RR that were expiring today.  I spent a total of $5.76 (oops, I just found another receipt, so it was $7.70) in four orders.  I got 2 newspapers too!  I also have $9.49 left in RR to keep spending.  They had so many money makers this week, I thought I would come out ahead (even with buying my papers).  Having to buy enough items to match up to RR killed my money making though!  Oh well, I can't complain one bit.  I needed the newspapers and the pens will go in my school prize box!

Two quick words of caution, the RR didn't print right on my toothbrush, and you can't use a RR on an item made by the same company and get an RR back.  Be careful while picking up your freebies this week!

    Here is what I did!

    Riteaid Deals and Blunder!

Here is a link to my matchups for the week.
I did have a little problem at Riteaid today, because I picked up the wrong size toothpaste.  (5.8 oz, not 4 oz)
We all make mistakes, and sometimes I let it go and sometimes I will exchange it.

If I decide to keep the toothpaste, $20.60 OOP and $17.69 in rebates.

I will try to exchange it sometime this week, so real OOP $19.60 and $20.36 in rebates.

The best part is that this order will count for close to $40 on my gift of savings!!

CVS Deals! (I Love You Mom!)

I don't use Tide, but my mom and sister do.  I was able to snag a smoking deal for my mom today at CVS. (I go before church on Sundays to ensure there is stock left.)

I bought 4 Tides and 1 Dawn.  I used 4 $1.00 off Tide coupons and a $.50 off Dawn coupon.  I also had a $5 off $25 purchase for taking the Flu quiz. I paid with $9 in ECB, so the total with tax was just over $8.00!  I paid with my free gift card, so I spent no money OOP, and I got back $10 in ECB!!!

Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters Prize Pack Giveaway*Closed*

I can't say enough great things about My Blog Spark! I received another great package in the mail from them this week! One lucky follower will receive a Nature Valley Nut Clusters prize package in the mail too!

    This package contains:

Four packages of the Granola Nut Clusters (4 different flavors)
    Sling Backpack
Stainless Steel Water Bottle (I saw one like this at Target for $8 today!)
    Flashlight
    Binoculars

Here is a bit of information that My Blog Spark sent me about the Nut Clusters:

Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters are a bite size blend of 100% natural ingredients that include select roasted nuts, whole grain oats and a touch of honey - a wholesome and delicious pick-me-up any time of the day. If you love nuts, you´ll enjoy this flavorful little snack featuring the perfect combination of sweet and salty flavors paired with a crunchy texture that you can see and taste. And with the first unique cluster-shaped granola packaged in a handy re-sealable pouch, it´s perfect for sharing on the trails or in your living room! New Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters come in four easy-to-crave flavors: Nut Lovers, Roasted Almond, Roasted Cashew and Honey Roasted Peanut.

My hubby LOVES the honey roasted peanut (I already had to buy him another bag, which is half empty by his recliner! I love you babe!).  I have been enjoying the other flavors, especially the Nut Lovers.  I took a bag to school to keep in my cabinet for an afternoon snack.  The clusters are filling and taste great!  There is a great printable coupon on coupons.com too.  (Go to my coupon bar to get there!) I would highly recommend these to anyone without nut allergies.

Bargain Meal of the Week for Harris Teeter

I am keeping our meal simple this week, and it can actually make two or more meals, depending on the size of your family. During the school year, I look for meals like this that can also double for lunches and more than one dinner!

    Chef Salad

Lettuce chopped ($1.59 for iceburg or $1.99 for green leaf lettuce)
Tomatoes and other salad  veggies chopped (fresh from your garden or borrow some from a neighbor)
Ham, Turkey, and Cheese, roll and slice to look fancy (Buy 2 Get 3 Free, you can mix and match)
Hard boiled eggs, chopped (I leave these out)
Salad dressing of choice (Ken's are Buy 2 Get 3 Free)

To stretch these ingredients even further, pick up a package of sub buns and have fancy sandwiches later in the week.

For more meal ideas, check out Erin at $5 dinners!

    I love Borders and Waldenbooks!

Today, I got 11 books for $0.23!  Here is the breakdown.  I got an email from Borders about their rewards card and their Educator week (Starting Sept. 29th).  I decided to stop in while I was at the mall today, so I go ahead and get signed up.  I received a $5 off a $5 purchase coupon for signing up with Borders Rewards.  They had a whole shelf of books on clearance for a $1, and the baby book in the back was 50% off.  My total came to $15.23.  I used my $5.00 reward.  So my total was at $10.23.  I had a rebate check from Harris Teeter that was good only at a few stores, and Waldenbooks happens to be one of them.  So I used that check, and only had to pay $0.23!   I added up their regular prices, and they would have been over $100 plus tax!!!  I think some of the books will be gifts, and others will go in my classroom library and prize box!

She sent me two or three envelopes full of great coupons. The second set of inserts goes to a lucky reader.

Do you remember the trip I made to Riteaid on Sunday?  I spent $13.00 and will get $11 back in rebates.
Well, I wanted to tell you about some additional savings.  It is called the Riteaid Gift of Savings, and it runs from now until Oct.17th.
The best part of this program is that it counts the before coupon price.  I got almost $45 toward my Gift of Savings on Sunday, and only spent $13!   So be sure that you enter all your receipts from now until October 17th, whether they have another rebate on them or not!
Here are the details straight from the Riteaid Site:

    Harris Teeter Success

Some how I got my whole order for........  $.11 today!  I saved $53.49!!! I am still stumped at how this happened, because I thought it would cost around $3.00. My tax was supposed to be .66 by itself!  I must have gotten overage somewhere that I didn't expect, and looking at my receipt, it is not obvious what I did wrong (or right depending on how you look at it).   Although my total was really exciting, I really try not to press my luck by getting overage, because I love triples and don't want to take advantage.

    Here is what I bought:

    6 Green Giant frozen veggies
3 Old El Paso taco seasoning (I used a $.60/2 that was DND, and I think it tripling is what threw off my calculations, because it shouldn't have.)
    3 Betty Crocker Icings
    3 Warm Delights
**got $5.00 off my order for 15 GM items**
3 Reynolds Foils (to use up the overage from the GM $5 off)
    2 Dawn dish soap
    1 Glass Plus
    1 Wishbone dressing
    2 Barilla Pastas
    1 Marie Callendar's Meal

To top it all off, I got a $3.00 off coupon for buying the Green Giant veggies and a $1.00 off coupon for my next order for buying the El Paso.  I still can't believe it!

How did you all do today?

    Harris Teeter Triple Matchups 9/16

I am definitely not perfect, so please let me know if I have made any mistakes or left anything off!Only three like coupons will double or triple per transaction. My Harris Teeter will not double or triple coupons that say DO NOT DOUBLE (DND), especially internet printables. If I have included any matchups with these kind of coupons, keep in mind that they may not triple. I usually just put that item back. The official coupon policy is that these will not triple.

HT policy is to double 20 coupons PER DAY PER HOUSEHOLD. The registers are now programmed to double or triple only 20 coupons per day, so make sure any $1 coupons are on the bottom of the stack. Let's all stick to the rules, so HT will continue to offer triples.

If the list looks confusing to you, go here to find common abbreviations for coupons.

    Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Review and Giveaway

I was chosen to be one of 25 bloggers to review and give away a sample of the newest product from Rubbermaid. They sent me a package of four TakeAlongs and a Blue Ice Fun Shapes (a little, cute frog)!

I received these last week, but I finally had time to wash them this weekend to use today. I packed a salad in my takealong, and the first thing I noticed was that they have been totally redesigned. The lid fits very snug, and I knew my salad would stay fresh. I packed my salad (the perfect size for this) and my little frog, and I went off to school. I can't say the little frog kept my whole salad icy cold, but it was still cool and nice went I went to lunch. I love using products like these Rubbermaid TakeAlongs, because they are inexpensive and hold up well. Plus, if you need to take something to a neighbor or a friend, you can let them keep the bowl too.

I was also wondering how these would hold up in the microwave, because they say dishwasher and microwave safe. So, I used one to warm up something for supper. I think they will hold up well, as long as you don't try to boil something!

The great news is that Rubbermaid is willing to mail one of my readers a sample of TakeAlongs and a Blue Ice Fun Shape too.

To enter, please leave me a quick comment telling me whether you would want an ice shape for a boy or a girl. Don't forget to check out Rubbermaid online and in stores!

This giveaway closes 9/18 at noon and is only open to U.S. residents. I will choose a winner using random.org.

    Shopping Success!

I got all this at Riteaid for $13.22.  The Covergirl coupon worked for me (two for free!).  I will also receive $11.00 back in rebates, and a good credit to start me toward my gift of savings gift certificate.

There are four papers, two nut snacks, and 2 candles.  I got all this for less than $3.50!  I have $7 in RR to spend, and I started with $13 RR that were expiring today.

CVS shows that the 8% tax here is a killer.  I had to spend $2.96 OOP, because tax was over $1.80!  I spent $12.50 in ECB, and I received $10 back in ECB!
Overall, I thought this was a great day!  If you want to see how I did this, please visit my drugs store picks!

Bargain Meal of the Week for Harris Teeter

You know me, I have expensive taste on a very frugal budget.  So I am excited to share another one of my mother in law's wonderful recipes with you.  I am so glad she doesn't mind!

    These steaks are delicious!

1 t-bone or porterhouse steak per person ($3.99 /lb)  or if you want to stretch your dollar even more cut two large steaks into "tips" or cubes

    1/2 cup of salad oil
    1/3 cup of soy sauce
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    2T worcestershire sauce
    2T dijon/prepared mustard
    salt
    pepper
    1/2 clove minced garlic

Mix all the ingredients in a ziploc bag.  Add steaks or tips.  Refrigerate 24 to 36 hours.  Grill to taste (I like medium well).

This is hands down the best steak I have ever eaten!!! Well worth the preparation!

Serve with some of the great canned veggies on sale for .33!

For more bargain meals this week, hop on over to $5 dinners!

    Sunday Coupon Preview

Check out the new sunday coupon preview! There are supposed to be five inserts this week!! That is a ton of coupons!!!!

    Exciting News!

Harris Teeter will be tripling coupons starting September 16th.  I had my suspicions, because it seems like almost everytime they advertise a wine sale, they have triples.  Hot Coupon World has confirmed my suspicions, so check back on Monday or Tuesday for a great list of freebies!

    Harris Teeter, I spent what!?!?!

So, I guess by now, you all are pretty used to these posts where I spend next to nothing for a ton of stuff.  Although I saved almost 67% yesterday, this is not one of those posts.  Check out my coupon matchups for details on what I bought.

So I bought some expensive items, and I was very relieved that the Cottonelle was on sale this week.  We are down to 8 rolls, which for a stockpiler is pretty low.

I spent $23.xx and saved over $42.  I always seem to have a hard time when my total is over $10.  I guess you could say I am spoiled!
