I am really excited to join Money Saving Mom and Life as Mom for a month long challenge of eating from my pantry or stockpile as I call it. I actually do this quite a bit anyway, but I have never concentrated on NOT shopping. I have quite a bit of stock in my stockpile that is near its expiration, and I am looking forward to using it so it won’t be wasted. My Menu Plan Monday is going to be a little different for the month of January, because I plan to include the ingredients I already have on hand!
Goals for January:
1. Move all items expiring in January and February from the stockpile to my pantry. (I am actually going to do this in the next few days, because I am out of school.)
2. I will only buy freebies and fresh foods (milk, bread, produce) from the store. (If Harris Teeter triples coupons this month, I may have to revise this goal a little.)
3. Take all my leftover money at the end of each week (I use envelopes) and apply it to debt.
4. Be able to defrost and have space in the chest freezer. I have a 1/4 beef coming from my in law’s Christmas present and I don’t have room for it.
5. Eat out only with friends on Wednesdays and two date nights (using gift cards).
If your stockpile is over flowing or is even beginning to look healthy, join me at Money Saving Mom to link up you own goals. I would love to hear about them here too!
