Common Coupon Abbreviations

July 22, 2009

Confused about the coupon lingo?  Here are some of the abbreviations you will see on many sites!

Most coupons come from the Sunday paper coupon inserts.

P&G = Procter & Gamble Sunday insert
RP = Red Plum
SS = SmartSource
GM=General Mills

When I list a coupon insert, I usually abbreviate it like this SS (12/31/10). This means that the coupon came from the Smartsource on 12/31.

Common Coupon Abbreviations:

$1/1, $1/2, etc. = One dollar off one item, one dollar off two items
2/$1, 3/$2, etc. = Two items for one dollar, three items for two dollars
BOGO = Buy one item get one item free
B2GO = Buy two items get one item free
B1G2 = Buy one get two free (usually at Harris Teeter)
Blinkies = Grocery/drugstore coupon dispensers with blinking lights
Cat or Catalina= Catalina coupon, prints from a separate machine when your receipt prints
CRT = Cash register tape, referring to CVS coupons that print on receipt
DND: Do not double
ECBs = ExtraCare Bucks, CVS rewards system
FAR = Free after rebate
GM = General Mills
IP = Internet printable coupon
MFR = Manufacturer

MQ = Manufacturer’s Coupon
MIR = Mail-in rebate
OYNO = On your next order
OOP = Out of pocket
Peelie = Peel-off coupon found on product packaging
PSA = Prices Starting At
RRs = Register Rewards, Walgreens’ Catalina coupons
R= Means Regional Coupon at the end of matchlups
SCR = Single Check Rebate, Rite Aid monthly rebates program
Stacking =  Using a manufacturer’s coupon in addition to a store coupon for an even lower price
UP Reward=Coupon for Rite Aid stores that prints at the register.
WT = Wine tag, no alcohol purchase necessary to use these coupons
WYB = When you buy
YMMV = You mileage may vary, some stores may allow you to do a deal, some may not.

Today is my first day on your site and can’t wait to see all the fun things I’m going to learn. Now here are my questions? I live in So. Cali. and we don’t have double coupons out here =( if you can give me any advice on how to save big like the way they show on tv it would help out alot cause I just don’t want to help out at home I want to give to the churches that helped me when I and my cat Kane were homeless, to pay it forward. Now my cat and I are on our feet in a very nice apt. Thank you in advance, Love and prayer. Kitty

You can certainly still save money without double coupons. Target allows you to stack their store coupons with a manufacturer coupon. Plus there are still some good sales out there! Good luck with the course, and let me know if you need any help!

I am so excited that I was told about your site. I am even more excited to meet you in person. I have told a group of friends about your site and we are going to be contacting you the first of the year to have you do a class for us. What a gift God has given you to share. I praise him for your willingness to share as you do. Thank you and God Bless.

R stands for regional, which means that not all regions received that coupon. Hope this helps!
