After a few evenings of work, I am almost finished with my coupon binder. I have a place in the front for coupons I plan to use this week.
I have a place for store specific coupons.
I have sections for house supplies, health/beauty supplies, pet, and food.
I think I am really going to like this method, if I can get past the embarrassment of carrying it around with me. I am not quite sure why I feel this way, but I do. For some reason, my huge bulging caddy seemed more discrete (although I know it wasn’t). For about 8 months, I have been using a large envelope caddy for house supplies and food, and a small purse sized caddy for health/beauty supplies. It was working ok, but it definitely was not ideal for a serious couponer like myself. I found a few neat articles about binders here and here, if you, like me, are new to the whole binder idea.
If you have a binder and love it, please give me some encouragement. Also, if you have any suggestions on how to improve my binder organization, please let me know!!!

Your binder is very similar to mine. I was using a plain ol’ Avery binder, but eventually switched over to a “more sophisticated” office-like one. I LOVE the built-in calculator! It’s oh-so-handy! One thing I do that you may or may not want to do is I use a 3-hole punch to punch holes in my weekly Walgreens ad so I can easily flip through it while in the store. I also 3-hole punch my sheets of printable coupons so I can cut them while I’m on the go.
For the individual store coupons I use clear envelopes that I tuck into one of those big pockets in the binder. I also put my pulled coupons into these just before a shopping trip.
Just wanted to share some things that I find helpful. ; )

I posted this on the main page, so forgive the repost, but this might help people too.
I agree with you, I didn’t like taking in the binder, but it will SAVE you big time!!! So this is what our family does…
I wanted to share one thing that worked for me ~ we use the binder method, which is a bit of work, but we do it as a family. My 80 year old dad loves to sort the flyers, my hubby and son cut them out in bulk, then we sort into food/none food and my daughter and I place into binders. The only difference for our family is we then take an index card box and put everything into it for just CVS, another box for just Publix, etc. that makes it easier for me when I shop, but we DO take the binders with us and leave them in the van…if we see something unexpected on clearance, one of us runs out and gets just that coupon(s).
I can’t wait to read the next 11 weeks!

I just read this article today & went out to buy the baseball card holder type things to put in my binder, but I’m not quite satisfied with them. I’m a semi-perfectonist about some things, one being able to see the full coupon. SO, I will have to go on a search for larger things to put my coupons in. I have also bought dividers which I will label into sections like: Refridgerated Food, Non-Refridegerated Food, Drinks, Condiments, Her (Personal Care), His (Personal Care), Both (Personal Care), Medicine, Storage (as in wrap/containers to store food etc), Cleaning Products, Restaurants, Clothes, & other. Lol alot I know. But I like to have everything very seperated.
Some people use old fashioned photo book pages too.
I love my binder!! my binder is a big one like two binders in one I have 8 sections on one side and the other side has 8 each labeled so I have 16 sections. Some are more full than others as you collect for one section more than the others. I love taking my binder into the store and often get people looking at me and one lady told me “oh great organization”. One thing I’ve learned is not to print coupons if I’m really not going to use them cause it defeats the purpose I’m wasting ink. So only print if you are going to use them. The binder system really works for me because you can see all of your coupons, and I have the labels set up so that as I go thru the aisles I just turn to that section on the binder.
thank you.. this is so helpful!!
